Day 9.
Feeling better today than in recent days. If it weren’t for the lousy weather, I’d be in a great mood. Lately in Yerevan the weather’s been a combination of sun, wind, and cold. Very annoying.
I ended up staying at the hotel all day working on my game app. I’d really like to release it soon. I’m now working on a very minimal version with the basic concepts to see if it latches on. If I get downloads, a revenue, that will motivate me to continue working on it.
Basically the game lets you control a character by tapping on the screen. Your character moves to wherever your tap and automatically shoots anything nearby. Enemies increase in frequency and strength over time. Your character gets stronger the more you defeat enemies and collect gems. There are upgrades available each time you level.
That’s the basic game loop. It’s not new, but there are some unique twists such as each upgrade being a different “ball” instead of a new weapon.
I think the first version of the game will have a survival type of mode with multiple waves. The goal will be to get through as many waves as possible. I’d like to add a high scoreboard to see who defeats the most waves.
I have a lot of ideas to add, but I have to balance between adding things and releasing the game. I could easily spend months developing features, but it’s better to get a minimal viable product (MVP) in front of the public. Why? Because that’s how you know if your idea is something people enjoy. An MVP also is a way to get feedback that may leads to improving the game.
So, that’s what’s on my mind these days. I’ve decided to change hotels. Starting next Monday, I’m moving 5 minutes down the street. I’ve been in this hotel for a month and as much as I’ve been enjoying it, I’m ready to experience a new place.
I’m sleepy. Time for bed.
Peace.
